4 mL plasma collected in an EDTA (lavender top) or PPT (white top) tube

ALSO KNOWN AS GENOSURE PRIME

Includes: HIV-1 INTEGRASE GENOTYPE *AND* HIV-1 GENOTYPE

Methodology

Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) • Sequencing

Stability

Room temperature: 24 hours Refrigerated: 6 days Frozen: 42 days

Reference Range

By Report*

Turnaround

5-7 Days; Performed Tues, Sat

Clinical Use

This test utilizes PCR and next generation (ultra-deep) sequencing of proviral DNA to detect drug resistance mutations in the HIV-1 protease, reverse transcriptase and integrase genes.  This information will assist clinicians considering a modification of the treatment regimens for virologically suppressed patients or for patients with a low viral load for whom an RNA resistance test was not successful.
