Specimen Requirement

1 Light Blue Top/1.0 mL plasma.Place light blue top in warm water immediately after draw until specimen is centrifuged. After centrifugation, remove plasma and place in a plastic transport tube. *Make certain to label the transfer tube “Plasma from Light Blue Top” in addition to the patient’s demographics.

Keep warm until separated. After separating specimen is stable for 7 days refrigerated.

Clinical Use

Detect cold precipitable fibrinogen. Cryofibrinogen has been reported in association with coagulation disorders, malignancies, phlebitis of pregnancy, inflammatory processes including neonatal infections, the use of oral contraceptives, and with scleroderma.
